Today, Spring Creek is one of many sources contributing to our drinking water since they flow into man made lakes. Even though fast-flowing spring water is pure initially, it ends up in lakes. The many stagnant coves inherant to lakes and the environmental pollution caused by watercraft and dumping, means that the water must be chemically treated to remove pollution before we can drink it.
The Chambers Brothers Quarry at Holford and Arapaho Roads has existed since the founding of Texas (Tejas) as a country when this area was considered rural and had only a few residents with ranches of 500 or more acres each. Limestone has been mined on the Chambers parcel as long as any living citizens can remember.
